Mandzukic joins Atletico Madrid
MUNICH---Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic has
joined Spanish champion Atletico Madrid from Bun-
desliga champion Bayern Munich.
The German club confirmed that the 28-year-old
Mandzukic signed with Atletico after undergoing a
medical and that it has also signed the transfer agree-

MANCHESTER---France midfielder Samir Nasri has
signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City,
keeping him at the English Premier League champion
Nasri was one of City's key players in its run to the
league and League Cup titles last season, scoring 11
goals in all competitions and becoming a regular in the
team under manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Nasri, who joined from Arsenal in 2011, says "it took
me time to adjust ... but last year everything was per-
fect---I enjoyed my football and I love living in Manches-
ter, feel very settled, and that showed on the pitch."

Ranocchia to replace Zanetti
as Inter captain

earmarked defender Andrea Ranocchia to take over the
captaincy from the recently retired Javier Zanetti.

BARCELONA---Jonathan Dos Santos has joined
brother Giovani at Spanish league club Villarreal after
Barcelona sold the Mexican midfielder yesterday.
Barcelona said the deal is worth up to 2 million euros
and includes a buy-back clause.
Both clubs say Dos Santos must first pass a stan-
dard medical before signing the five-year deal.
Dos Santos, like his brother Giovani, came through
Barcelona's youth academy before eventually earning a
spot on the first team in 2012. But a serious knee injury
forced him to miss most of last season.
Giovani Dos Santos, who played for Mexico at the

Lloris goes to Spurs
LONDON---Tottenham says it has signed goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris to a new five-year contract at the club.
The 27-year-old France international said on the
club's Web site "I enjoy a great relationship with the
club" and "the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino (the new
manager) is important. I have a good feeling with him."
Lloris captained France in the World Cup in Brazil,
where they reached the quarterfinals, and has played
78 times for Tottenham since joining from French club
Lyon in August 2012.
