TORONTO---Mike Conway won the
second race of IndyCar s doublehead-
er at Toronto, where rain forced the
series to run both races yesterday.
The first race was washed out on
Saturday and run a little more than
five hours before the second race.
Rain again played a role as a brief
shower soaked the track and forced
teams to use varying tire strategies to
combat the slick surface.
Conway was one of the first drivers
to replace the rain tires when the track
began to dry, and it put him in position
to win a race that had been dominated
by Team Penske drivers Helio Cas-

yesterday to win his first ATP
The 46th-ranked Mayer saved
five of the eight break points he
faced and converted five of his
seven chances to beat the sev-
enth-ranked Spaniard in the clay
"I can't believe it," Mayer said. "I
was able to do it against Ferrer,
who is one of the best players on
this surface. I'm really happy and it
still hasn't sunk in that I won."
Mayer had not dropped a set in
five matches to reach the final,
while the 32-year-old Ferrer had
been bidding for his 22nd title.
"He was better in the match,"
Ferrer said. "I think I was little bit
nervous in the important mo-
