REIMS---Zlatan Ibrahimovic saved
defending champion Paris Saint-
Germain from defeat in its French
league opener by scoring twice in
a 2-2 draw at Reims yesterday.
The Sweden striker opened the
scoring in the seventh minute but
missed a penalty kick 13 minutes
Reims midfielder Prince Oniangue
equalised from close range in the
22nd before Antoine Devaux gave the
hosts the lead in the 34th.
Ibrahimovic salvaged a point with
a lob from a tight angle in the 63rd.
"Tonight we didn t do what we
needed to do in order to win this
match," PSG coach Laurent Blanc
told Canal Plus television. "No dis-
respect to Reims, but I think PSG
gave away the match tonight, because
we should have killed the game after
PSG missed Ezequiel Lavezzi,
David Luiz, Maxwell, Blaise Matuidi
and Yohan Cabaye, who are building
up fitness after playing at the World
Today, it s: Bastia vs Marseille;
Evian vs Caen; Guingamp vs Saint-
Etienne; Lille vs Metz; Montpellier
vs Bordeaux; Nantes vs Lens; and
Nice vs Toulouse.
Tomorrow, Monaco hosts Lorient
and Rennes visits Lyon.
Ibrahimovic was the top league
scorer in the last two seasons and
lived up to his reputation by taking
a pass from Javier Pastore to slip the
ball through the legs of Reims goal-
keeper Johny Placide for the opening
PSG could have led by as many as
four goals after only 20 minutes but
proved wasteful.Lucas Moura
attempted to dribble past Placide in
the 17th instead of passing to Ibrahi-
movic for a tap-in. Ibrahimovic made
clear his anger at the Brazilian winger.
In a similar situation just a minute
afterward, Marco Verratti fed Ibrahi-
movic, who hit the post.
Ibrahimovic then earned a penalty
in the 19th but Placide dived to his
left to save the spot kick.
That save fired Reims up. Oni-
angue capitalized on a missed clear-
ance from PSG right back Gregory
Van der Wiel to flick home a free
kick from Diego Rigonato.
The hosts rode the momentum as
Devaux outpaced Van der Wiel to
meet a low cross from Gaetan Char-
bonnier and poke the ball home for
a 2-1 lead.
PSG needed a stroke of genius
from Ibrahimovic to rally. Pastore
found him on the left flank and
Placide could only palm Ibrahimovic s
clever lob into his own net. AP
MADRID --- James Rodriguez hopes the scoring
streak that earned him the Golden Boot award
at the World Cup continues after his move to

the Colombia forward after he scored a tourna-
ment-leading six goals at this summer s World
Cup in Brazil.
He was presented with the Golden Boot trophy
"I was hoping to win it because I have always
dreamed of winning something like this," James
said. "This is also a source of happiness to my
country Colombia. Because they gave me lot of
strength so I could win the award."
Now the 23-year-old must find a way into a
star-studded attack already featuring Cristiano
Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
"I have big hopes, but first I have to train well
and earn my place in the team so I can play regularly
and win titles," James said. "I am now in a club
that is always hungry for titles. And I think that
if you want to play here you must always keep a
high level of performance." AP
